Artist Statement
My artwork encompasses a wide range of different styles, from realism, to collage, graffiti, to abstract. My work is a mash up of the different techniques and styles that I have picked up over the years. Vivid color combinations, movement, optical illusions, layering, perspective, and realism are a few aspects you might notice in a lot of my art. Exploration of the medium, to always be learning and growing as an artist, is one of my main driving forces.
Lately, the majority of my work is done in acrylic paints, but I go through periods where oil paints are my preferred medium. Spray paint is another medium I love to use, as I am very heavily influenced by graffiti art. Graffiti murals are a separate node to my practice. It’s a style that I like to transfer over onto canvas as well.
I feel my abstract work is a representation of the subconscious mind, where certain thoughts crystalize into reality, creating imagery throughout the piece, and in this way, I manifest my thoughts and give the viewer a glimpse into my mind and thought process. At the same time, I try to ignite a spark in the viewers mind and heart, to inspire creativity and emotion. Exploring these thoughts and principles generally leads to new ideas, which are then manifested into existence in the next piece.
When it comes to realism, my approach is quite different. Everything is much more planned out and tedious. Close attention to detail is key to reaching my desired aesthetic.
Combining these approaches is the direction my work has taken, which by design, will open new doors, to new ideas!
